From out of the ashes of legendary doom band Sleep (their first breakup, anyway), a unique duo (and eventual trio) was born. Incorporating drone and trance elements into a gritty rhythm section showcase, they’ve proven that religious music need not be preachy, cloying, or exclusive—with lengthy pilgrimages into and beyond the Abrahamic faiths. With a limited catalogue, I’ve opted for a strict top 10 songs from the Bay Area devotees.
*This list will be updated in the event of any future (including posthumous) releases.
