Busting out a new alter ego for a Christmas album, the members of the Flaming Lips retooled some holiday standards and threw in a few originals in the bargain. It’s not quite traditional, with its ethereal production, but it’s not totally ironic at the same time, adding another pattern in the vast tapestry of Yuletide tunes. These are my favorite songs from a singular edition of holiday cheer.
